They've got the it factor?

Against my better judgment, I took my kids on an audition after a talent scout asked if they would be interested in auditioning for a director working for Disney.

Aside from my personal opinions of putting my kids in the spot light/cameras eye/public, Missy B has been begging for quite some time to be taken to one of these auditions. She sees the commercials all the damn time, and doesn't understand why I don't jump right on it.

So off we go, dressed in 'casual dining clothes' armed with candid photos, we enter the sleeze fest. Alright, so it wasn't so bad-but still I was wanting to take a running leap when I see a 30 something, disaster singing along to the muzak with the whole tone-ear-plugging going on. I mean, are you for real? We can see you lady!

Then there were the myriad of notsocute kids milling about. I couldn't help thinking- these people are thinking the same about mine. The open audition begins with the casting director-who is in cahoots with the Talent Academy hosting the event; wow, thats my shocked face.

Finally, it's Lil V's turn-in front of a room full of people, we have never seen, V puts on the charm and it's recognizable from miles away-these peeps were all over him.

When asked what 'Mom's thoughts and interest were' I didn't hold back. I said, this is his show-if he is really interested and has some talent I don't know about I will support to the degree I see fit.

Missy B, following a tough act, clams up. Still she had something this guys was looking for. And said she had 'Dreams of being a famous Zoologist and Actress.'

And it was refreshing, as he had sent several families packing without hesitation or apology. Some, just for pure behavior reasons others because he declared they didn't have what 'The Industry' was looking for. Right.In.Front.Of.Everyone.

He deemed my kids had the 'It Factor', they are what this 'Industry' looks for. He also suggested I fly Lil V 'straight to LA, TOMORROW!' because 'This boy HAS IT!'. Missy B should get some professional training for print and acting and into the auditions ASAP.

Um, thankyouverymuch.........I think.

I haven't posted or plugged my kids in quite some time, so while I am at it:
  • Missy B is the only 2nd grader who hasn't missed a word on a spelling test all year.
  • She tested crazy high on her IQ, again questioning the move to skip up a grade.(we were asked in K'garten also, but declined)
  • She had a PowerPoint presentation on Greece today-I didn't even know what powerpoint was, much less to find out that Missy B tutored some other kids that were having a rough time of it, nicely.
  • V is doing 2nd grade math for funsies for homework(even though K'garten doesn't really get homework)the simple addition of single digits bores him, so he is onto single digit multiplications and triple digit addition and subtraction
  • He is reading well beyond the requirements to move from 2nd grade to 3rd.
  • Still the sweetest kid ever.

I am freaking lucky these two are so rad.
